OUR STORY
The Zarley's Origin, Dude
Some of our family's favorite memories were made along the California coast. From exploring the art-filled streets of Laguna Beach to watching beach volleyball in Hermosa Beach, catching the excitement of Huntington Beach, taking in the harbor views of Dana Point, and touring the cloud covered strawberry fields near Carmel, every adventure was made even better by discovering great local food and treats.
Those family trips inspired Zarley's. We fell in love with the laid-back coastal vibe, memorable sandwich shops, and incredible ice cream, and wanted to bring a little of that spirit home. Every handcrafted sub and sweet treat we serve is inspired by the flavors, fun, and sense of adventure we experienced along the way.

Our founder, Jeff Jackson—a longtime food innovator and Founder and CEO of Legendary Q Brands—created Zarley's to share those experiences with our community. His passion for great food, family, and travel is at the heart of everything we do.

And that family spirit continues with the next generation. Our son, AJ, helped open our very first Zarley's location and has become an important part of bringing the vision to life. With his own energy, ideas, and passion for the brand, AJ is helping lead Zarley's into its next chapter while carrying forward the family values and adventurous spirit that started it all.
Every adventure needs a GREAT sidekick...

MEET ZARLEY,
our fun loving mascot.
With his bright blue color, spiky hair, mischievous smile, and adventurous spirit, Zarley is always ready to explore somewhere new in search of amazing food, sweet treats, and unforgettable memories. His name comes from the coastal slang term "zarlies," a nickname for grinder- or hoagie-style sandwiches—a fitting name for someone who's always on the hunt for the next great bite. He reminds us that life is meant to be enjoyed, one adventure—and one delicious bite—at a time.
Whether you're joining us for lunch, ice cream, or just a reason to smile, we hope every visit to Zarley's feels like a little getaway.
